Red Hot Night Art Exhibit hosted by River Region Art Association

Monday, August 06, 2018

Members of the River Region Art Association gathered on July 28th at a “cool” reception celebrating the “Red Hot Night” Art Exhibit. We were joined by our special guest Mayor Barney Arceneaux whose interest and support of the gallery and its move to our new location at 320 East Ascension St., Gonzales, LA was greatly appreciated.

“Red Hot Night” art features the hot colors, including reds, oranges, yellows, and or “hot” topics of the artists’ choice. Visitors to the the reception, voted for the “Best in Show” award. At the end of the evening our “Best in Show” winner was Terry Farrell who depicted the hot topic with a stunning sea turtle swimming in the ocean.

Guests were treated to local musician Gaynell Moore who had the crowd tapping their feet to Cajun and country music! During the reception the visitors received door prizes, participated in an Art Scavenger Hunt and tried to identify the Mystery Artist”!

Our event raffle was a hand painted wooden chair from artist Mary Crochet who is a well-known local folk artist.

President Peg Carbo welcomed the guests and Betty Marks, Event Chairmen, kept the activities going throughout the evening.

“Red Hot Night” is just one of the many activities of the River Region Art Association. We have art program for children that include summer camps, special holiday camps (Thanksgiving and Christmas), Saturday art classes for children and Adult Art classes. Our monthly event calendar and information about classes can be found on our website and Facebook pages.
